My firewall keep showing a incoming notice, something about system.
Says system is a safe application, but is trying to receive a connection from a another computer. Is this just an update or something?
Should I just click allow, and set it to remember my answer?

    Hi

Without knowing exactly what application is wanting access via the firewall we cannot suggest best course of action, so if possible what is full file name and location? does your firewall and what one is it? give you any info.

In the main many firewalls will flag up a system process as wanting firewall access as many do and some even use tcpip, so are safe but its knowing what they are.

What Windows version and what firewall are you using?

I am using XP pro and Comodo firewall.
All the notice said (after clicking on system) was that it was a system file, gave a ip number that I think is mine (1XX.128.193.45-tcp) and port ms-ds(445)

I think perhaps you should adopt a standard and safe practice for such like:
    DENY and remember my answer.

If you are not sure then do not allow it!!!!

If at some later time, you find something is not working correctly ... eg Windows updates/other updates/... etc then you can investigate the matter further.

    Hi

Cheers on the further info as port 445 is linked to windows filesharing and its one I would block and was subject of an update last year KB958644, if any application you haev may need this port open then you can open it manually via your firewalls menus.

So is your Windows version fully upto date with all service packs and critical updates.

I made sure all updates were installed, and it still pops up.
So my question is.... if it is something needed by another program, will that program just not work correctly, or will the program let me know something is needed? Kinda like when it says you need java or something.
I am going to deny and set it at remember as I am tired of it showing up.
    Thanks.
