    Dell, Toshiba, Thinkpad, apple Macbook?????

trying to help an impulsive client buy a notebook. He started to impulsively buy a dell D820 but I halted it 'til I could find out more.

Dell chose the D620 platform as the startpoint for their new "ruggedized" offering, and knowing the business laptop group there, there was a reason. But, snooping about the websphere, there were a rash of display, audio, and heat problems with the D620 by late last summer [2006]. But maybe they cured all those??

Asking other groups, the consensus choice seemed to be Thinkpad in terms of reliability... Toshiba/Apple second, others third.... WHICH Thinkpad??

    Any/all feedback GREATLY appreciated.

    Hi Zapp
Selling Custom built Desktops & Brand name laptops to my business clients for years now this is
    my humble experience
Toshiba's have been my number one for years very few problems
IBM Thinkpad also agreat unit, haven't sold alot since Leneovo took over.
the new HP's are not bad (not compaqs)
A new line I've just taken on is LGE I'm very impressed with the units and they are my #2 seller after Toshiba
One important thing is the units I sell are all in the $1300.00 plus range for business I don't look at the inexpensive consumer units
I sell units that come with only the O/S (always XP Pro) I then install the AntiVirus and other software the client wants to buy.
    Hope this helps

I am on a Toshiba satellite that we bought 1 year ago and have no problems. does what I want it to do. plenty of memory and dvd +/- burner that works flawlessly. brother has a very old sony vaio laptop that he is still using after nearly 3 or 4 years, and, for it's age runs great. Battery life is crap for them, but can't complain at all about the product.

If you have that kind of money look at the Tecra by Toshiba
    Go to their Website www.toshiba.ca
this is the Canadian site and the one I'm most use to .com will be USA and you can get different models then we can and vise versa
look at a few and tell me the model #s and I can give you my opinion
Up here some models come with 3 year warranty I'm not sure about US
A Toshiba Tecra models have 3 years in Canada:)
