    Hey,

I'm looking for a good sound card to increase the quality of my iTunes music. I run them all in WAV. I just have Altec Lansing speakers that came with my computer. Any recommendations?

    Thanks,
    James

I would recommend new speakers before a sound card if all you want is to listen to WAV files in 2channel stereo. A new sound card isn't really going to effect that much at all.

i agree. while getting a sound card will take the load of sound processing off the processor and since the card to focus only on sound, it will make it sound a bit better but i wouldnt just get a sound card if you cant take full advantage of it. at least get a nice 2.1 setup (2 speakers and a sub) to take advantage of the extra channels

Yea you probably won't notice a difference in sound quality by upgrading your sound card with shitty speakers. Spend your money on speakers instead and you'll definitely notice a difference. Your best investment for playing music is speakers. A new sound card really isn't going to do anything.
