Recommendations to replace AdAware SE on older/slower laptop

Hi - Recommendations to replace AdAware SE on older/slower laptop

After several years of nicely browsing and a few non-internet things, a little while ago I 'upgraded' (forced) and installed Adaware 2007 and the new Spybot S&D and maybe a few other things programs on my Win2kpro/500mhz/192mg laptop.

Well, it basically came to a screeching halt !!! LOL and seemed to get worst as I attempted to 'fix' it !!! So I bit the bullet and re-installed the o/s Win2kpro (not too bad as I have multiple partitions for different data, non-o/s installed programs) so I was up and running quite quickly after just a few issues - sorta fun !!! Changed my AV from AVG (active), Clamwin (addl scan) to AVira and added Comodo firewall.

I ONLY use Firefox - with NoScript addon, through a wireless router. Except that I think some programs use IE to update automatically. I seem to only access upstanding web sites as I always 'allow' the scripts from the base website. Installed the MVPS hosts .

I've read mixed responses about still using Adaware SE as it appears that the update capability has been reinstated. My friend is still using it on a XP system.

But since I'm running on a slow(er) laptop - and at this time a clean system - I wondered what the recommendations would be - as I got here tp MajorGeeks searching for adaware se replacement !! TIA ;=}
