    Hi Folks,

Ouch! .... I burned a whole bunch of JPGs to a CD in slideshow format, with PhotoMeister, a good app for picture files, and by accident deleted the original folder where the JPGs lived.

When I load the CD into the drive bay, and go to it via 'My Computer', and open it.....there are 4 separate folder: EXT, SEGMENT, VCD, and MPEGAV.

Ouch ! Is there a way to re-convert this CD's contents back into the original JPGs ? I notice the majority are in the SEGMENT folder in a .dat format.....

Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.....but we learn from them, at MG's.

    Hi Scott

What Windows version do you have as if you have Vista then if you right click the parent folder to the images one you deleted and choose Properties > Previous Versions tab then go back to a date before you deleted the folder and double click it to open the contents as this is a Shadow Copy backup of that area and does if available house old files that may have been deleted.

If not then could try image recovery applications like PC Inspector

Not got experience of the app you have used but if this app has an import/export feature that may allow you to import the slideshow and access the individual images, if not then if the images are full screen, try a screenshot of each image and save, (prtscn).

Could try to copy a few of the .dat files to the desktop and fiddle with them, may be as easy as changing the file extension from .dat to .jpg, .bmp, .png and the like. Something like that worked for me with Kodak software created files, just needed to change the name of the file extension to view them. Could also try file recovery software, but the more the drive is used the less chance of recovery, especially after a defrag. All the best...:major
