Recovered data?

    Hiya! Im working on a hard drive which went down and was formatted before it was given to me. So i ran "GetDataBack" for FAT and found all the word, excel and publisher documents that was the main items wanted, but wen i opened them they was in a different format that the aplications couldnt read??? can any one help me please as im stuck now :confused: lol thanks

    What format? If it only could recover part of the file, that would explain it, another option would be to rename the file to the proper format. In other words, your program may have saved it as a default name with a different extension. Let me know.

    its not a such a different format the txt comes up all scrambled and in funny caraters like when you open a word document in note pad and in the "GetDataBack" list it has the file several time but has (001), (002), (003) and so on but its on the file name before the file type (.xls) (filename(001).xls) :confused:

    Recovery is not 100%. You may recover bits and pieces of data and that is why some files may look corrupted.
