Recovering file from "documents and settings"

Windows 7 Home Edition.
C drive has
Program files
Program files (x86), so I am assuming it's partitioned.


OK, so it's that time of the year, and I started doing my taxes.
To my surprise, I can not recover my 2010 .T10 file, which is my 2010 tax return.
Best I could do, was to find its address, in saved and available PDF file, and that address is in documents and settings.

C:\Documents and Settings\username.username-273A73EC0D\My Documents\HRBlock\user name 2010 Tax Return.T10

I am beyond any doubt positive, I had it all saved, also, Taxcut saves it all automatically anyway. I had nothing done to the PC, so that file should be where its address is, right?

Now, as you all know, Microsoft chose to remove documents and settings, and it's "users" now. Of course, that particular .T10 file is gone.

Any ways I can recover it? As I'll benefit greatly, if 2011 Taxcut will be able to import it.

So this machine had XP on it at the time you did your 2010 T10 and you subsequently installed Win 7? As there was no upgrade path from XP to Win 7 you must have done a fresh install of Win 7, and if your Docs and Settings folder was on the XP partition it will have been overwritten I believe, and if you haven't been in the habit of regularly backing up your files then it won't be recoverable I'm afraid.

Every Win 7 insallation has both Program Files and Program Files (x86). it doesn't signify that the drive is partitioned, as both reside in the same partition, usually C:
