Recovering Files from a formatted drive.

I recently reformatted my computer and backed all of my files up on my iPod before hand, however, before I had a chance to put them back on my computer my iPod ended up going through the wash. I've been told PC Inspector File Recovery ( http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1 ) is my best bet. However, the site doesn't give very detailed descriptions expect do not install on the drive you want to recover things from.

So what exactly do I do? Or is there a better program out there to help me recover my files?
