My friend's computer crashed, possibly virus related, who knows. I believe the OS is Win2000. It refuses to go beyond one of the loading screens. It goes through the diagonostic screen, the three-box-blue loading bar screen, and then seemingly freezes with the word "Loading..." underneath the Windows logo. I played around for a bit and eventually got the computer to tell me that the system32 file was missing. Yes, THE system32 file. Anywho, friend has recovery disks but the 2nd of three is unreadable. We attempted to repair the CD but no luck. What are the other options? Thank you!

    Really?

How about options that don't include the recovery disk? What information should I give that would be helpful to anyone in helping me?

Make and model of computer, whether the three recovery disks were burned by the user or supplied by the manufacturer.
If burned by the user, explain what software was used.
