recovery tool?

I had to reinstall my OS in which case I had to format my hard drive.
Has any one used a recovery tool that will recover Music, Photo & files?

Get Data Back for ntfs/fat or R-Studio recovery software. If you type "file recovery" into google you will get a bunch to choose from. I recomend R-Studio.

Next time you have problems try a non-destructive reinstall that reinstalls the system but leaves your files intact.

Fred Langa used to work for Microsoft and this is one of his pages where he describes how to do a reinstall and leave your data intact. You will loose all your critical updates but you can redownload those or google "apup" the new autopatcher program that downloads and install them for you in a batch form that you can even put on disk and update another pc anywhere.

One I forgot to mention and is quite good is Acronis Recovery Expert.
