I am posting for a friend who is having a recurrent problem with trojans. I tried to clean as best as possible, but it seems like its a downloader. I ran combofix, but she deleted the logs before I was able to svae them on the restart. If there is a way to restore these I will get them for you. Thanks

Not still in the recycle bin is it by any chance? If not don't worry I will have you run it again a little later on.

Hi there and welcome. I am currently reviewing your logs and will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience during this time.

    1. Before we continue you must put this machine into normal start up mode using msconfig as requested per the R&R.

    2. Also you must ensure that MGTools.exe is directly on your C Drive and not in the following location:

    C:\Documents and Settings\jgarcia8\Desktop\PATRICK COMPUTER FIX\MGtools.exe

    3. Please go to Add/remove Programs and uninstall the following older versions of java:

    • Java(TM) 6 Update 6
    • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
    • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6

    4. Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
It is not wise to place any site into your TZ

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    5. Now use Windows Explorer to find and delete the below bold directory left over from Viewpoint.
    • C:\Documents and Settings\jgarcia8\Application Data\Viewpoint

    6. Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    • C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

    7. Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    8. Now run Combofix so I can see a log from it. Log will be retrievable at: C:\combofix.txt

    9. Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix

    10. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!
