Running XP Home sp3 with IE 8.0. This valueless key keeps appearing at HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\uninstall\google chrome. Never installed or used Google Chrome, and can't find any trace of it in the pc. RegScrubXP fixes it but it keeps returning. Does Windows want it there, otherwise I'd like to remove it permanently.

The problem is being caused by a component of RealPlayer, it is there update module. It is realsched.exe located in the RealPlayer\Update folder. It puts two Empty keys in the registry, one at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and the other at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. You need to stop realsched.exe with a Control-Alt-Del and End Process button, find the program file and either delete it or lock it like I did by renaming it Lock-realsched.exe. I did that incase I foud that RealPlayer needed it for some feature, but so far have found no need for it.
