Recurring problem identified

About every 2-3 months I have to post the same issues and logs, but I have identified the cause. I have noticed that this same issue arises upon next reboot only when windows automatic updates have just been installed.

First, my computer becomes extremely slow. After about 15 minutes following boot my tool bar blinks and goes from a blue background to a gray one. The font is also different. My display window on some programs will have the tool bar menu item background in gray boxes (i.e. File, Edit, View, etc). Then at times the task bar will blink between the standard blue and the gray.

Second, MS Media Player always stops playing sound. The error message is "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.".

I am going to go through all the scans in 1-8 which usually fixes the problem but I was just wondering if you had any suggestions regarding the Microsoft Automatic updates.
