    Hi,

Having problem with emptying my recycle bin.

    PIII 550 running XP Pro w/o SP2
    4 separate harddrives C/D/E/F

When I try to empty the recycle bin I get a pop-up:
    Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot remove folder De2.hustler: The directory is not empty.

If I open or explore my recycle bin, there's nothing in it.
I've done a search of all files and folders on all drives for 'De2'
I've created a folder named De2.hustler and deleted it from each drive, then tried to empty the bin, but get the same error.

I've had some spyware issues in the past, most recently a nasty CoolWeb variant, but I think I've got rid of it awhile back.

The error has been coming up for several months now, but I haven't had time to deal with it untill now. My system has also seemed to be running slower than it used to.. I'll post a HiJack log just incase it helps..

    Thanks,
    djGrumpyMike :(

<edit> We have specific rules against copying HJT logs into posts. if there is a spyware isue, we will move your post into the spyware forum, where a set procedure must be followed first. Thanks!</edit>

Here is something you can try. Rename the recycler folders at the root of each of your drives/partitions. They are hidden; so show hidden files and folders to see them. After rneaming them, make sure your recycle bin works ok. if it does, try to delete those folders.

If you can't let us know.

    Hi,

    Sorry about the HiJack log.

    That is working.
The recycle bin works properly now.
I have deleted all but one of the renamed RECYCLER folders.
The one from drive E seems to be causing the problem.

I can now see a folder inside the renamed RECYCLER on drive E called De2.hustler

I think the problem is the file inside that folder.
    It's somehow been named: ba_on_2003_11_03_05_L(1(.jpg

That seems to be the file that can't be deleted by the recycle bin, and it won't let me rename it or delete using explorer or from a dos shell.

How can I get rid of it?

    Thanks so much,
    djCuriousMike

Try removing the rcon restrictions and delete it from there. Naturally, this will require an XP CD or the XP Setup floppies, that can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com.
