i just created an acount to say i have the EXACT same problem with an
AMD 64 - 3000 with XP64, no IPX, i belive it's a common problem when trying to run some older games not designed to use an AMD 64-bit chip, i have been up all night just looking for a solution and found non, so i just bit my lip and will have to install XP32 on another comp, unless someone out there knows of a solution ?

I made my sys x64; after bout week or two I decided to call it quits, alto of overclocking apps DONT work and alot of games behave eratically because of x64. My solution was to go back to x32 http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

i am starting to see xp64 as more trouble than it's worth.... altho i love how HL2 responds :p faster loading times, generaly most of the new games that are comin out now will be x64 compatable but i think it will be a while b4 many software companys aculy see a market for x64 as i think AMD thought a little too far into the future. i mean dam i can't even find a decent firewall to run on x64 that i truly can config to my own wants and needs, altho i have a firewall/router, who can be too safe these days ?
