Red Steel multiplayer for Nintendo Wii

    i am having troubles playing multiplayer on Red Steel. it seems as though the second controller will not sync. we have tried swapping the controllers profiles (make controller one number two, and vice versa). no luck. i have read that you have to unlock certain types of multiplayer, but im pretty sure that deathmatch is unlocked on default. any and all assistance is appriciated.
