   I am getting a red x on the upper left corner of the desktop. Running xp pro sp 2. all current updates have been installed. If I change the wallpaper to none, the red x remains.
   
   Any suggestions?

   maby u have active desktop on and u said to display a webpage or icon on ur desktop that has been misplaced or the /dir of the file has beeen changed so it can't find it and that's why it makes the x
