reddish tint on Gateway Diamondtron NF monitor

I've tried the monitor on a couple of different computers (windows 2k and xubuntu) and with 2 cables. Same thing. There is no tint when the computer is turned off - the self test of red white and blue says monitor is working properly and that looks fine.

Do I need a driver for this monitor and is that the cause? I can't locate the driver.

 

Have you checked the pins on the monitor cable end?

Have you checked the plug on the video card/on board video?

Make sure pins aren't missing or bent on the cable end and that all pin holes are open on the video card/on board video end.

 

I know the video card is fine because other monitors displays just fine on the computer.

I've checked the pins on both cables and nothing is missing.

All pin holes are open on the monitor.

I think last step is to make sure the screws are tight on on the monitor end. It's got to be between the monitor to computer portion because with the computer off, display is fine.

COme to think of it, I have a NEC non-computer monitor with RCA inputs that have the same problem. Playing DVD and VHS gives a yellowish tint. But the blue screen is perfect when stopped.

Much as I hate to say, it sounds like your monitor has gone south for the winter and didn't bring you along.

Have you tried hooking up a different monitor?

 

Could be the cable itself, now a lot of CRT monitors had a permanet cable, but if it is changable try swapping it out, if no go then i would have to say that the monitor is bad....
