Redhat Headache

i downloaded redhat today, downloaded java but java dont seem to work,been spending more than 12 hours now figuring how to make java works,is'nt there a simpler way to make java works on redhat?:cry

 

Redhat/Fedora is a headache in general. I can think of other OSes that have far superior package management.

As for java...you want java, or the java plugin for a browser enabled? What browser is it?

 

i m confused using redhat 9 with mozilla....do u think mandrake is a better option?

I dont think any Redhat based distro is a better option.

Open mozilla. Type:

aboutlugins

Does it show it?

IMO, you'd be happier with Kubuntu.

I'm not on my Linux install right now (I use Arch), but the plugin is named, I believe, libjava.so.

 

IMHO you'd be happier with Vista!

Ok, here we go.

the plugin is named libjavaplugin_oji.so

It should be located in /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins.

If its not, then you can do a search for it. Open a terminal and type locate libjavaplugin_oji.so and see where it is found.

If its the first time you have used locate, it has to build a database, so run it with sudo, or superuser.
