Major Geek, I have worked throught the steps currently outlined in your MalWare guide but still am experiencing a search engine redirect on Google, Bing, and Foxfire. MBRCheck is the only program that shows anything regarding finding a virus. Now I'm not sure what to do now? I'll attach the log I have for your review. Mahalo for any assisitance you might be able to provide.

You'd do well to attach the REST of the logs too. ;) Without those I'm about as much use to you as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Will do, I ran so many programs trying to get this resolved I'm not sure which logs you need so I'll attach the latest ones.

Thanks for the quick response though, it was not expected.

I have one another log here that might help?

Well, I was unable to upload the log from Rougue Killer. I got a notice to advice the administrator of the unexpected error when trying to upload the debug.log file. "A security token was missing"

The attached log should be the last one a received from the programs your instructions recommended I download and run, MGTools.

    Hope these help?

    Delete this:
    C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Roaming\moriconsg.dll

Can I see logs from HitmanPro and MalwareBytes please?

Now go to this MGTools and download the new version of MGtools.exe. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run the new MGTools.exe and attach the new MGlogs.zip

Didn't see the note to delete the file but will do so now. I have though replaced the MGTools program and ran that to get another log. All three logs requested are attached. Standing by....

After runninh new MGTools I attempted to delete the file as you said to but, I was unable to delete the moriconsg.dll file. I get pop-up saying I need permission for VAIO\Daniel to do so. Is this my VAIO Care Prog that manages my Sony's maintenance stuff?

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :files
    C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Roaming\moriconsg.dll

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Re run RogueKiller now and attach the log from that too.

    MajorGeeks,
After your last update, prior to the one above, I was able to unshare the folder that contained the moriconsg.dll file and delete it. Deleting it sent it to the recycle Bin.

Nevertheless, I completed the instructions contained in your latest update and attached are the file logs from running the OTM and RougeKiller progs.

Seems my ie browse no longer has a mind of its own. Thank goodness given I'm in finals week. I searched the web yesterday and this am with no redirects. You guys are the BEST!

With this, I now have 9 added programs and associated log file folders with files on my desktop from all the work we have been doing. What should I do with theses?

Additionaly, I have VAIO Care running as a maintenance program and VirusScan Enterprise V8.7i. as my system security programs. What programs do you recommend I maintain for standard virus, firewall, security requirements?

Also, how do I contribute $ to your efforts and shoud I consider contributing $ for to the other programs that you provided the links to?

    Oh good luck!

    Brilliant! :)
My final steps will address all that jazz...

Again, final steps will cover alot of this.

That is *most* kind! At the end of all my posts is a link to buy "geekwear" if you would like to express your appreciation. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
