Redirect e-mail

Perhaps I'm just bad at searching, but I've looked through Google and several help sites (like this one) and can't seem to find if there is a way to redirect e-mail from one account (specifically my AOL e-mail address) to another (an e-mail account I have via a domain name I've recently purchased). I may be using the incorrect terminology, but by "redirect" I mean that I would like the e-mails to arrive in the new destination e-mail account's inbox with each e-mail having the same "from" e-mail address, and showing the same date sent, as it had in the original message had in AOL. I have tried using Thunderbird (ver 3.1.5) to read my AOL e-mail, and then attempted using Thunderbird's message filters to redirect the mails, with no success. (The e-mails were forwarded, not "redirected," and ended up being attachments.) A Thunderbird "add-on" available on their site says it won't work with versions beyond 2.0. Also, I haven't actually tried this, but I have poked around with Windows Live Mail's options and settings and it doesn't look like that would work either. Any ideas? Thanks.

You need to setup the redirect from within your AOL email account (if they support it).

They no longer support it; that's why I'm looking for other emthods. :)

With my Google gmail account, I can access settings in my gmail account and have other email accounts forwarded to my gmail account. The other account(s) must be a POP-capable email account.

Take a look at your email options for your email account based on your domain name. Perhaps it has this capability.

That's intriguing, but sounds a lot like other options I've explored that don't do what I'm looking for. Could you please clarify if by using such an approach e-mails would be "forwarded" (your term) or "redirected" (see my original post)? Thanks

Well, my previous post may have been somewhat erroneous. I maintain a website for a local non-profit organization. I have set forwarding of email originating from email links, such as president@our_organization on the website, to personal email addresses but I just logged on to the cPanel to search for a way to retrieve from, not forward to, another account and I see it does not provide such a feature.

However, as I previously said, I can do that with my gmail account. For example, my email address with my ISP ends with @embarqmail.com. I've used it for years as my primary address. As an experiment, about 6 months ago, I discovered the feature in gmail which allows me to import all my embarqmail to my gmail account. So, I decided to try it out of curiosity and it works fine. What this does is allow me to see all mail (from both embarqmail and gmail) by logging onto gmail.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Certainly not a solution, but as an end-around you might consider one of the aggregators (is that a word?) found in the Mail Utilities section: FreePOPs, POP Peeper, etc come to mind.

I too was intrigued by this. My ISP does have a forward option and I have used this for a long time, so all my mail ends up in my Gmail Inbox regardless of the address it was first sent to. But as you say you cannot do this from AOL I thought that as a trial I would stop forwarding and ask Gmail to go get it instead, and as USAFv says, it works just fine.

@siwel99 - Maybe this is your answer :)
