    Hi,

I’d be very grateful if some one could help me.
In the last few weeks I got some redirecting problems. Some times I got redirected to a page asking to update my Browser (Firefox). Other times I just got redirected to some extremely long address and blank page.

I’ve done the Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure and here are my logs. I'd be grateful if some one could have a look and tell me what the problem is.

    Thanks in advance.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now rerun RogueKiller and have it fix this item:
    [APPINIT][SUSP PATH] HKLM\[...]\Windows : AppInit_DLLs (c:\docume~1\alluse~1\applic~1\browse~1\23796~1.11\{16cdf~1\browse~1.dll [x]) -> FOUND

    Now:
    Reset Firefox to Defaults

Reboot and rescan with RogueKiller and attach the new log. Let me know how things are running.

    Hi, Thanks for help,

I could not find this item on RogueKiller, so I could not fix it.

    Here is the log.

Everything else; Running MGtools/analyse.exe, and fix the lines; Resetting Firefox to Default, and reboot, all these things I did fine.

    What do you think?

    How are things working now?

    Things seems fine.

But I have to say that I didn't get the redirection problem all the time, every day. I got redirected every few days, or once a week. So from one day to another I can not see any difference.
I've made lots of scans with differents softwares trying to fix the problem. When I thought the redirecting was fixed, after few days, or a week, it happened again. So the persistance of the redirecting, rather than the frecuency, was what made me think something was wrong, and to make a complete malware clean.

    Hi there,

I'd like to let you know that today it happened again. I got redirected. It happened just once.
To be precise, when I tried to open a link (from a trusted web) it opened a new window with a weird page.

    What do you think?

Tell me what browser it happened in and has it happened in any other browser ( if so, which ).

    Hi again,
It happens in Firefox. I don't use other browsers, so I cann't tell about them.

Let me say again that it doesn't happen often (not every day). But I guess it shouldn't happen get redirected to a page that prompt me to install something, and when I think I've fixed the problem, it happens again.

What do you think I should do?

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).Make sure that you watch for the license agreement for TrendMicro HijackThis and click on the Accept button TWICE to accept ( yes twice ).

    Then attach the below logs:
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Hi there,

    I did run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file, I attach C:\MGlogs.zip

But I did not see the license agreement for TrendMicro HijackThis.

    What do you think?

I still am not finding any malware. Use a different browser for a while and see if it happens again.

I’ll do that. I’ll use a different browser for a week and see what happen.
    Thanks

    Hi there,

Just to report that I’ve not had any problem in the last week. I have been using Google Chrome and IE, and Firefox. Everything seems fine.

What’s the next step. What should I do now? Should I Toggle System Restore?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

The final step is done. Everything seems fine.

Only remain to thank you for your time and help.
Some people might take for granted to get help online free of charge, some might provide help but ineffective (Firefox itself is not able to fix this problem). But we should never forget when we get help, that behind there are real people that spend their time helping others for nothing, and here at Major Geek top quality. That is remarkable.

    Thanks.
