Refractive Eye Surgery

Tough question, funny enough one that was asked of me last week by one of the girls I work with ( we both wear glasses and are myopic )... she asked if I would have LASIK,PRK,LASEK etc

my answer was... probably not as all surgery has a risk.. this risk being total blindness or a loss of vision more than you had without wearing your glasses, also the fact that i'm so used to my glasses now it would feel strange not wearing them and to me its not worth having a surgical procedure if its not actually needed... now if my doc was to say I needed it or my sight would go, then yes I would do it.

Also their is no garantee that your vision will be better after the surgery, on that I do know friends whos sight is great after this and I do know of someone who after 5yrs their vison has deteriorated back to what it was before the surgery.

Edit: before I forget.. not everyone will be suitable for this procedure... so it maybe worth having the consultation before you make your mind up, just to see if it will help you.

have you explored if you dont want to wear glasses.. contact lenses?

So the choice is really down to you.. weigh up all the pros and cons, BUT one important thing I would say is make sure you research either the company or surgeon who will be doing the procedure ( I dont know where your from but in the UK you can get this done on the highstreet or by NHS consultants ) you dont want some cowboy doing this.
