I just got a new laptop and I was trying to set up a new user. For some reason the new user is unable to load up. Therefore I was trying to fix it by checking the regedit as the Microsoft website tells you to do, but as I was on it my cat jumped on the laptop and press all the keys and deleted my regedit. I tried to do a system restore but that is also not there. Please help.

Check to see if you are logged in with Administrator rights.

Try using the System File Checker
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
It may ask for your Windows install disk.

When I tried to run System File Checker as the administrator, it gave me the following:
Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Wait I rebooted the computer and is now running the system file checker.

System file checker finished. It reads: Windows Resource Protection did not find any intergrity violations.

The System Restore is back and the regedit seem to be back, but I still cannot log-in with a new standard user account for my kid. The system allows to create the account on the control panel, but when I go to log-in to setup the desktop preferences, etc, it immediately logs off. Can someone help with this problem?

You failed to mention what version of Windows is on the new laptop.
