Is me again...Hopefully the last question for a while - sorry to be bugging you guys so much.

I noticed that the registered owner is my dad (his email anyway). Is there a way, that I can change it to my email? I have been giving this quirky acting laptop as a gift (even with the quirks, that sometimes rive me batty, I am glad I have it).
I have tried finding an answer via Google and here on the forums, but alas..
Would it require a new installation?

    Thank you, in advance :)

Where exactly does 'registered owner' appear and what OS is it?

I guess you are talking about the user that appears on the login screen being your dad. It won't be easy to get rid of all traces of him on the computer but there are things you can do that will make it feel more 'yours'. First off, you are currently signing in with a Microsoft account rather than with a local account. The Microsoft account automatically connects you to all the online services HERE and if you previously used XP or Win 7 this isn't what you are used to at all and many users don't want it. The answer is to use a local account instead, instructions HERE. Do that first, reboot, and then create a new user account with Admin privileges for yourself. Switch user to your new account and delete the old account, your dad's account. Do that first and let's see how it goes.

The log in,when I startup the laptop, is sorted. That is now set to me /mine.
Uhm.. I'll try to get a screenshot of what I mean.

Still is Win 8.1 ;) (giggles)

You can change that with the registry edit in either of those two articles in post #4
