After looking at these results is a registry cleaner worth the purchase. I've read articles that say cleaners will not increase system performance and on the flip side I've read articles that contradict those articles. So which is it, is it worth it or not? :confused

Yes, it's worth it. I've used trusted registry cleaners for half a decade without a problem. I also take it to the extreme and manually clean my registry, but do not try this unless you know what you're doing.

I personally wouldn't trust anything other than Ccleaner for registry cleaning...many experts advise against using registry cleaners as many can be too over enthusiastic and often make mistakes amongst other things. But I certainly wouldn't pay for the above program in your screesnshot to do the job that Ccleaner could do for free

System performance will decline if enough orphaned registry entries accumulate, and these can cause system crashes and system freezes. I speak from experience, but it's buggabear's computer and decision.

I would never purchase a registry cleaner then if I was fully capable of editing my own registry...

I'm not having any problems with my computer I just happened to run a registry check and they found the errors, I've never had the need for a cleaner (knock on wood) but I was just wondering if they are worth it.

Bill I'm on a xp system

    Kestrel13 I have ccleaner

and you also have no problems as you say so with ccleaner already installed...run with that....scrap the idea of being tempted by paid for software that doesn't do what it always claims

They're a time saver. The registry's a big place. And who said I purchased it?

Buggabear, I hate a messy system. My computer's squeaky clean and doesn't contain one unneeded file, folder, or registry entry. And my style has never caused a problem. If you're a casual-computer user with fears, than use only CCleaner's Registry once every three months.

No, I said registry cleaners are worth it, not worth buying. They're a tool that should come with every computer. I come in peace.
