Registry Comparitor Software?

Is there a software that opens and compares two registry backups.. and determines the differences

 

Why would you want to compare registry backups? Or are you talking about comparing 2 different registry cleaners?

 

If you want to compare two versions of your registry after for example putting in new sofware or if a problem is encountered you need regshot. Its free and cute and small but a little difficult to understand at first.

That was sweet and quick... Thanks!... I only have wordpad to read it.. and that's no good at all... I don't have Microsoft Word, as I've lost my Office 2k serial... What's the best program to read the registry copy?

Hey!.. It sure tells you what's what in the registry...

Save a clean registry copy on the desktop, and when the PC glitches-up, one day, run RegShot again, and compare the differences.. to enable me to manually delete the new bugs that got in... but the problem is that some bugs lockout regedit... Is there a way through that when it happens?..

I typed the folowing, to add to a post.. and totally lost my work when a popup read that the ten minutes was up... It should have saved somehow... Last time that happened to me here, I lost three extremely difficult to create paragraphs... Sometimes I forget to copy before posting...


What I really want, is to be able to filter what gets into the registry as a software is being installed, or as an attack is happening.. so I can select and deselect what goes into the registry as it's happening... Sort of a registry guard dog, or registry vault... Something that forces the bug into realtime slowmotion, allowing me to disect it... And if it be an attack.. something that allows me to modify the attack, and add a pix and audio, and bounce it back... or it's a snoop.. not bounce it, but then release it, to the snoop's trojan...
Is there such a critter?..

 

Hello again - I think that what you are after just doesn't exist. Why not in additon to regshot also download and install ERUNT - also available here at MG.
You run it to save your entire registry prior to doing an install and then do the install. If everything turns pearshaped all you then need to do is reinstall the ERUNT saved registry. Used it often and it is a very easy program to use.

Is the reg backup just an export of the entire registry as a .reg file. If so then its essentially a text file and you can use winmerge
