my daughter has a memory card that she took 400 pix with than switched to black and white and when she switched back to color all the photos were gone. i tried data recovery and it said it could not find them. now i try opening the folder on her card and it says it is a pvm file. so i went on the internet to try and get a program that would open the file and it gave me regcure. Regcure said i had 520 registry problems on my computer and if i buy the software it will fix them and i presume then it would open the pvm file? what does the registry have to do with the pvm file and i hesitate to buy the software if that is really not the issue. i don't know if i am even in the correct forum here, but can anyone help me? i have a fairly new computer a dell with an intel core 2 duo E6550@2.33GHz, 3MB RAM, 32 bit runing on Vista Home Premium, 500 GIG HD. Thanks!

Hi

What software did your daugter use to edit the pictures, it wasnt HP Camera Software was it? if so the .pvm file are like a slideshow/album file over the actual files, so open the software and see if you can locate the image store folder, sometimes many applications list the last 5-10 opened files and this will give you an idea of the location of the actual images.

If she can remember any of the file names of the images, type them into the start search box, or run a seach on .jpg files on the whole hard drive.
