Anybody know if RegScrub XP will ever be updated or taken over by another individual ? I think it is a very good cleaner and hate to see it die.:(

RegScrub XP has not seen any development since 2002. The Lexun website has been offline, AFAIK, for several months. The program is very dead.

I used RegScrubXP when it first came out and was amazed by its thoroughness in cleaning out old and dead leftovers in the Windows registry. It was actually the first freeware registry cleaner that could easily be used by just about anyone from novice users to geeks with its very easy-to-use interface. Although the RegScrubXP program works well for many folks; the final version Lexun RegScrubXP 3.25 will no longer be updated.

Unfortunately the Lexun Freeware author/developer has shutdown the site and no longer "supports" any of the previous freeware that was developed. A while back the "Lexun Designs" website had a notice on it; briefly explaining that the site was closing down soon, but giving no details as to the reason why. However for some reason the explanation was removed a little while after that and now then site has vanished entirely.

A short while back; after the Lexun site had finally closed down for good, someone [in another forum] told me that they got in touch with the Lexun Freeware developer via e-mail; who said that due to personal reasons, had decided to shutdown the Lexun Designs site but might consider offering and all of the source code, for free to another developer [under certain conditions]. If you do a web search you will find very few if any complaints about any of the Lexun Designs products. About the only "complaint" I've ever heard about the RegScrubXP utility is that it has not been updated since 2002.

A lot of people these days currently use CCleaner [using the CCleaner "issues" option] for tidying up their registries. Most folks like it and because CCleaner has a very user-friendly interface, it is fairly easy to use and it is also updated very frequently. DCleaner is also a newer entry in this sort of utility/program category which is gaining in popularity and many people use it as well for registry maintenance.

I use CCleaner as well [for the system optimization and privacy options], however I currently use a fairly new freeware registry cleaner called Eusing Free Registry Cleaner in order to check for problems and inconsistencies in the Windows registry and then thoroughly clean out the registry.

I believe that this newer utility is even more user friendly and far more thorough any of other aforementioned freeware registry cleaners as well. Additionally, the Eusing Free Registry Cleaner program has a far more thorough "help file" and the utility automatically will make a backup of the "repaired entries." If any problems occur after cleaning using this tool - users will be able to very easily restore any changes made using the software by choosing the "Restore Previous Registry" backup restoration option; which restores the backup of the repaired entries with one click of a button.

    Good Luck!

I didn't think Regscrub was all that hot although the interface was good. I use and quite like RegSeeker available here at MG under the "Registry" heading.
It's not let me down after 1 years usage and always backs up for restoral
    Cheers
