Related topic to the "Product Key" but a different issue...

Recap: I could not get the patch to load on a manual install because it required that I have SP1, which I could not get because of the invalid key. I was basically stuck without any way to get the patch.

But! When I did the automatic updates that were available, I noticed the patch was loaded onto my machine (at least I am pretty sure it was the patch because the number assigned to the update matched up with patch number on the MS download site) . I ran the worm removal tool and removed the worm (success verified)! I am monitoring the machine to see if the worm returns. So..., I do not have SP1, but I think I have the patch. I am sure there are certain critical updates I still lack and also need from SP1, but at least for the time being I think I am protected from the one security breach the worm exploits. We will see....

just FYI: you can download all the patches that are in SP1 seperately from Windows Update if I'm not mistaken.
