    Is it possible to controll a pc at my mothers from mine at home?
    Do I need software ? Is it free? I want to get my mother online but she has problems operating the pc and I live too far away to run over and fix it every time.

    Yes it is possible,

    You need to download a program called teamviewer on both computers then you open the program on both computers but you need the id code and pass key off your mum's pc and then you can remote access her computer.
