I recently installed XP Pro on my new Shuttle XPC. In "My Computer" it shows "Removable Disk(C: )" and "Removable Disk (D: )"
I don't have these disks. Why does it show these disks? How do I get rid of them?
    Thanks

Do you have a media card reader?

I've seen the same or similar extra disks /extra floppy when the MOBO/Chipset drivers werent installed. (once drivers installed after reboot all was good)
Ive also seen when usb or firewire cable was pluged in without a device

    Any errors in Device manager?
Try to Open the removable disk?

It could really be anything like a digital camera, eternal zip or floppy drive etc.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I do have a card reader. The letters are for the card readers 2 slots. I think I will reinstall XP with the reader unpluged and plug it in afterwards.
XP also assigned my optical drive as E and my local hard disk as F. If I reinstall XP without the card reader plugged in (now C & D) will it still assign my optical drive a letter before the hard drive (Optical C and hard drive D)? If so, how would I get it to see the hard drive as C?
It's an SATA drive and the Optical is on the closest connection to the power supply (if this matters).
    Thanks again
    James

Through "Disk Management" you can change drive letters without having to reinstall your OS.

If there is a way to change the system hard drive letter through Disk Management, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    James

Start -> Right Click My Computer -> Disk Management

Under the Disk (0 , 1 or what ever you wish to change), Right Click on the Drive Letter you wish to change and select "Change Drive Letter and Path..." and choose "change". See PIC.

I've already tried that. If you go a couple steps more you will get the message "cannot change the system or boot disk letter" or something to that effect. It works on all other drives though.
