Removal of afantispy

Hi Folks,
I just managed to get afantispy into my netbook by accident, dont ask, it is a VERY HARMFUL VIRUS but looking up on the net for a removal tool I could only find one thing that might remove it and that was malwarebytes, (strange) any way I found a cost free way to remove it and here's how.

1. Disconnect from the net

2. Boot up in safe mode.

3. Go to run.

4. Type msconfig, and ok

5. Click on startup tab

6. check for a file named, gwcmhtiaffm or very similar. and uncheck it

7. This is the hidden file on your computer causing all the damage, you should now be able to access all programmes

8. Restore to an earlier date and this will totally delete the file from your machine. (you may be able to go to an earlier restore point and by pass looking for the file but its nice to know where it was and if you have got rid of)

I think we had someone else post a bit of a solution too. I am not saying you did not get rid of it completely, but there could be stragglers, if so feel free to run our procedures and attach the requested logs.

Also worth bearing in mind that there could be all kinds of different file names tied into this infection so what worked for you may not necessarily be the case for someone else.
