Remove MS java Office 2000 app issues

On a Win 98 SE OS I ran the MSJVM Tool 1.0a to remove MS Java and installed the Sun version of Java, all my apps with the exception of Office 2000 seem to be working fine.

The issue with the Office apps is if you don't have an open internet connection (my DSL line was down today) the application won't open. Has anyone found a work around for this?

I can't remember why I posted it in spyware but I had posted it to the software area before I put it in spyware.

I messaged back and forth with a couple of the MS guys from Redmond about the subject and they hadn't ever heard of it either. They were polling their far flung group to see if anyone else had seen it before and thats the last I heard of it.

If I get any response from them with useful info I'll post it here in case it comes up again on someone elses machine.
