My computer started bringing up internet explorer on it's own a few days ago. It started happening right after I accepted a person on skype. In the mean time, I downloaded a few DRM torrents to remove the DRM protection on videos that I rightfully own. I only torrented the DRM removal files because I bought the incorrect package from DRM Removal, and I also couldn't figure out how to make the files work. Kept getting a 315 error.

I also tried downloading some stuff that was sent to me over skype. I think that's part of what went wrong because the torrents I was sent didn't work at all.

Then I download winrar and get stuck with this redirecting shit call incredibar. Incredibar kept bringing up a weird search page. I over looked the issue for about a day.

When I couldn't update PostgreSQL to the newest version I thought that I might have a virus. Also, every time I try to download this critical windows security update the installation fails.

I took steps to remove incredibar and reinstall PostgreSQL. The incredibar crap doesn't pop up in my firefox anymore because I set the conditions back to default; however, incredibar still pops up in internet explorer.

Finally, my firefox browser stopped working shortly after I removed 7 threats with the ESET online scanner. My fire fox browser popped up and then disappeared about 7 times after clicking on it. In the icon menu, I noticed there was something about appdata and temp files showing when there should only have been internet windows.

A little while later, my browser starts working again. I'm paranoid as hell now that I have a trojan on my computer, or several.

I have attached the malware logs requested, but I didn't put in a hijackthis log because I was told by the sticky not to do that yet.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your MGlogs.zip file is very incomplete. Please make sure that you have ALL protection software shutdown and also have disable UAC and left it disabled. Then do the below.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Something call Servwool.exe stopped working during the scan. It was something wool. Also internet explorer keeps popping up with the incredibar crap.

I disabled my antivirus and turn off UAC.

Also, something about hijackthis popped up during the scan. I pressed the x button instead of agreeing to the license because I didn't launch hijackthis on my own.

Was explained in the black command prompt window that opens with MGtools.

Yes you did. It is part of MGtools and the instructions for MGtools in the READ & RUN ME stated the below
So next time, make sure you click accept twice to run it.

Also you skipped running step 5 of the READ & RUN ME with CCleaner. Please do this now.

Uninstall the below. If they do not uninstall or you don't see them, just continue on.
    BitTorrentControl_v12 Toolbar
    Java(TM) 6 Update 37

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • JRT.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Uninstall Skype and see if it still happens.

Also uninstall the below. If you don't find it or it does not uninstall continue on anyway.
    BitTorrentControl_v12 Toolbar

We are going to be uninstalling your old version of FireFox and installing the new version. So do the below to save bookmarks:
    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

Now uninstall FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.

After reboot, delete the below folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Users\Remy\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: BitTorrentControl_v12 Toolbar - {b6ac5e3c-5ceb-4e72-b451-f0e1ba983c14} - C:\Program Files (x86)\BitTorrentControl_v12\prxtbBitT.dll
    O2 - BHO: BitTorrentControl_v12 - {b6ac5e3c-5ceb-4e72-b451-f0e1ba983c14} - C:\Program Files (x86)\BitTorrentControl_v12\prxtbBitT.dll

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:

    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Please do not paraphrase error messages. Tell me exactly what it stated. Also make sure that your antivirus was shutdown before running it. If that does not help try using safe boot mode.

Why? What exactly happens? Are you receiving any error message? Refresh the page and then see what happens. What browser are you using? If not Internet Explorer then use Internet Explorer.

Yeah I was using firefox and the manage attachments section wasn't showing up.

Funny, it was showing up before when I was using firefox.

Here are the attached logs. I apologize for the delay. I honestly can't remember the failed .dll.

I'll remember to keep a piece of paper by me when scanning from now on.

The below should take care of it.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
