The program listed on this site at this location:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/win7codecs.html

Installs third party software on the users computer without their consent. There is no option to turn it off, there is no button to press, no custom menu to enter into to say no to the software.

This damages this sites very good reputation as a trustworthy place to find software.

We all understand bundled software and that is fine...if there is an option given to the user.

This software does not give an option, and should not be promoted nor provided by MajorGeeks.

I hope that you can understand how such software bundling, without choices, no only damages the reputation of the provider, but also the reputation of sites such as Major Geeks.

I just installed it. It put nothing on my machine.

The software it install is SIP. Which is easily removed, but that is not really the point.

I have watched the video, just in case it mentioned something I did not already know. I did this before I installed the ADVANCED Codecs package.

There is no option to untick, there is no menu to enter to choose not to install the SIP program.

Also, please look at this thread:

    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Win7codecs#comments

You will notice that I am not the only one complaining about this issue, though I will admit that I am the last person to post.

There is also this thread, from the software producer:

    http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-malware-in?highlight=7zip

Which openly admits that the program is doing this, and offers a solution.

I tried that solution, it does not work.

If MajorGeeks will commit to removing it, I will happily create a video that demonstrates my actions through the install process and you can decide whether I have missed something or not.

However, I do not really want to spend the time and energy on such a project without at least some idea that it will have an impact.

Apparently you don't know how things work here. I installed it. It added nothing. I am the final word here. One of your threads simply is a year and a half old and I know he did do that (July 2013) at one time.

Some of the comments, as is typical on the internet, are posted by people who are just not that bright. If I listened to internet comments, anti-virus or browser scanner warnings, MajorGeeks would have about 100 software listings because everything seems to flag something nowadays.

With all due respect, you can make a video or do whatever you want, it does not change that I already tested in in VMware, rebooted and found nothing. I can't duplicate it and have a direct email to the author and would email him if you were correct.

    Have a nice day.
