I have been told to remove some of my cookies but NOT all.
I see 2 directories http://www.arthurhewett.info my screenshot may help.
1 is cookies and the other is Temporary Internet Files. When certain cookies are deleted in the cookie directory they show up in my "Temp internet files directory" and if all of those (files & cookies are deleted thru IE then all the cookies in the cookie directory are deleted.

I guess my 1st question is, Can hackers get my info in the "Temp internet files" ?

Who told you to remove some of your cookies but not all? This is your first message here?
If you want to do this, that is perfectly exceptable but you need to use a 3rd party tool like CCleaner

When you delete cookies they do not go to the TIF folder. They goto the Recycle Bin.
The cookie folder and TIF folder are different and are cleaned up separately. Hackers can get your info from anywhere unless you have proper protection.

I'm not sure what the exact purpose of this message is and where you are headed.

I did a search and looking at the program "Empty Temp internet files".
Some cookies can stay and others be deleted. That is what I want as some cookies have info that I want no one to have while other cookies are of the forum nature.
    Does ccleaner do that?
Do you know anything about Empty temp internet files program?
    Thanks

Just use Ccleaner it allows you to select cookies you want to preserve.

I delete daily. Will this program do that without a problem?
I understand or at least I have been told that deleting these cookies and files in the 2 directories will considerably reduce hackers getting my info. Is that correct?
    Thanks

You can run the program any time you want. It can even be set to run at boot up.

No! Just deleting cookies and TIF folder files will not reduce the ability of hackers to get your info. It will only reduce the ability of them to get info that is stored in the Cookie and TIF folder because you are emptying it.

You should read and do the steps in the below:

I just downloaded ccleaner and that program sure has my vote. I left the settings as they are but placed the cookies I do not want to delete as it said.
I did read the article on virus/malware and it seems I already run the recommended except the firewall and that I am little afraid of that. A friend of mine spent several days configuring before it worked. I have so much on my pc I really want to enjoy for awhile.
Had to tell you that ccleaner seems to be a very good & easy to use program.
    Thanks

    You're welcome.

However, without a firewall, you are extremely susceptible to some very bad problems. You were worried about Cookies and TIF files. They are nothing to worry about compared to not having a firewall. Your enjoyment of your PC may end real fast if you are not real careful and very, very lucky.

If I install one of the mentioned "Firewalls" will it possibly be in conflict with some of my other programs such as other Anti Virus?

Do I need to re-configure to receive my email in Outlook Express?

    Thanks

The firewalls do not conflict with antivirus programs.

Reconfigure what? Do you mean setup the firewall to allow your Outlook program to work? Any program that you need to have internet access (or local network access) must be given the correct permissions on your firewall. A firewall like ZoneAlarm will typically setup for many of the default Windows processes automatically. But each time you run a particular program for the first time, you may get a mesage from your firewall asking whether to allow it or not. Some programs (like Outlook or any browser you may use) obviously need internet access. And some programs do not need it. You must decide. For example, does CD or DVD writing software need internet access. No! Unless you want the program to automatically look for and perform update downloading. You can always deny a program access and change it later if you change your mind. You can also leave some settings to always ask for permission and decide at that time whether to allow access.

This is a topic you may want to do some more studying on elsewhere (maybe the Networking Forum) as it is not a topic for the Spyware Forum where we work on fixing problems due to malware.
