OK so got myself a small Nissan Micra as a project car for £400, and it's got some awful stickers on.

What's the best way to remove them? I've heard use soapy water, WD40, heat with a hairdryer (?!?!?!) any better suggestions?

The best way is the hair dryer but there will be some residue from the adhesive the way to get that off is with methylated sprit on a sponge then buy some turtle wax in the nearest colour to the car and use two cloths (old hand towels are the best) one to apply it and a clean one to buff it up the amount of work you have to do is depending on how good a finish you want

Eucalyptus oil works well. You should be able to get some from either the supermarket or pharmacy.

In my experience Soapy Water, WD40, and Heat usually just soften and the smear the "Stickers Adhesive" mcadam. I usually use 90% Isopropyl (Rubbing Alcohol on a rag to soften the adhesive then wipe it off, other solvents work, but can damage the paint. Hope that helps you out of a "Sticky" situation(Okay you can Groan)

I hate goo gone because it leaves to much of a mess on glass and paint and on computer cases and such thats why i like using the lighter fluid.

  11. If it's vinyl stickers on the outside of the car, use a kettle of boiling water. I've done this many times and find it much easier than a hairdryer.
White spirit (and / or WD40) will remove any glue that's left over.

** unless it is one of those "On a Mission", or "No Fear" stickers, in which case, a bucket of acid should sort it out.

My brothers just said you'll have a hard time getting it like the stickers were never there because of they way the sun effects paint over time,if they've been there longer than a year were his words unless maybe you went on a mental Tcut buffing session

LOL... before I even scrolled down, I did my google on Goo Gone (http://www.uline.com/ProductDetail.asp?model=S-10501&pricode=WO514) as I swear by the stuff. I use it all the time in EMS work for removing old medical tape (holds better than a lot of ducktape I know.) and the goo gone takes it all off pretty easily. I use a clean dry soft towel to remove the goo gone residue after the fact. As to application, I find that if I take a bandage and put the goo gone on the bandage and 'bandage' the area it works in about an hour.
