I've had plenty of experience renaming a computer on a domain running Windows XP. But I cannot get one to rename on Windows 7. We had to swap PC's and I attempted to rename the computer. I deleted the other one from the server and even unplugged it from the network. All I get is access denied. Anyone have any suggestions?

So you deleted the old PC name from AD? You right click on "Computer", select Properities, then Advanced System Settings, Computer Name Tab, then Change and enter the domain name and then use credentials of an Domain Admin to join the PC to the network.

Shortcut click 'start' orb and type rename computer, you start on the Name tab.

Access denied? when you enter the credentials? Is it an Domain Admin account your using? Is it locked?
