Anyone here go when its in town?

First time I've ever gone today.

    It was...AWESOME!

We were there for 4 hours, and barely scratched the surface.

We watched jousting, swordfighting, knife juggling, and a guy walking a tightrope that was on fire :D

My daughter got to ride an elephant, camel and llama.

    I even got a viking drinking horn :D :D :D

Where I come from, they aren't "in town", they set up shop for several weeks or months at a time, then close down until the next year. Some of the smaller ones are only there for a weekend, but none of them travel to other cities like the circus does. :)

We used to go as a huge group in costume years ago, but everyone got too busy. I was thinking maybe this summer I'd arrange a trip again, we'll see how it goes.

This is the biggest and best one, over on the other side of the state: http://www.michrenfest.com/
This is the other good one, nearer to home: http://www.silverleafrenfaire.org/
There are more, but those two are the best. :D

Shoot, now I really want to go again...

Been to some in Illinois some years back. Great time. Ours even had a sword swallower.

Related but more commercial. Medieval Times in Schaumburg Illinois put on a GREAT show. Great horsemanship, knights in full armor, all food served to be eaten with your fingers by "maids" in costume, etc. Really great evening.

They had something called a Pleasure Feast, that I'm guessing was much the same. Of course, at 80 some odd dollars per head, I didn't find out ;)

LuLu and I went 4 years ago to the one in Sterling, NY. We had loads of fun, enjoyed pretty much the whole affair. I particularly enjoyed throwing a spear at a man-sized target. I hit it on three of four attempts, and have a paper that says I`m a certified spear-chucker. Quite an experience altogether. Lotsa serving wenches...I wonder if they did indeed have wonder-bras back then heh heh heh.

They have similar ones like that occassionally in the UK, and they can be so much fun. Everyone just having a good time, never any trouble and just really enjoyable :)

Glad you had a good time man :D

I live right by the grounds for the Minnesota RenFest and it does not get used for much when the festival is not going on but they have a pretty huge area with many permanent structures built. It's a blast and I go several times each year. I went to the one in Arizona once too, and it was just as fun.

The most fun I have had out there is when it was pouring rain. Honestly.

There is a Medieval Fair every year in Norman, Oklahoma,
near the OU Campus. I've gotten to go a couple of times
and it is lots of fun! :)

Any place that has plenty of food, beer and wenches is good.

@ Beth- they have a permanent site for the festival and it goes on for a month or so. They have a lot of the same vendors every year but I believe they travel all over. I wouldn't be surprised if you have some of the same acts and vendors there.:)
