Replace 2003 Dell XPS or purchase & install new motherboard

I've had exceptional good performance with this Dell Computer and as clean as keep it....the High CPU memory usage screen pops up alot when I only have 2 programs running at the same time. Such as ITunes along with Microsoft Excel as one example. Are these indicators of a failing motherboard? Would it be your advice to purchase a new Dell XPS?

 

Go to Tigerdirect.com and get a barebone PC. Your install of windows might not work on it. You can do a repair install and it might load the drivers and files for the new motherboard. But put the Harddrive in the new computer first, it might configure correctly. You will need your operating disk to do this. Make sure to have a good windows product key, and if you don't have a windows xp, seven, or what ever, borrow from a friend and use your product key.

 

I think you need to be exact about the message you're seeing, attaching a screenshot of it would help a lot. From what I might guess so far, it could be a file system problem, possibly a corrupt pagefile.

Going the barebones route would require a different Windows license as Dells use the VLK type of key that can't be used on non-Dell hardware and still be legal.

 

Thankyou for these responses. I noticed that the board recognized that I only gave thanks 2 times....but I have always wrote "thanks" in my replies. Where is the little hand I can click on that gives the "thankyou" so it can be duly registered?
