My notebook came packaged with Bullguard Antivirus for 3 months which has now expired.

I wish to replace it with AVAST.

However, before installing Avast I am told that I need to entirely remove all elements of Bullguard from my machine.

Can anyone help me to do this uninstall and install process correctly so I get the full benefits of Avast once it is loaded.

Does the Bullguard program come with an uninstall program? You might also try CCleaner. It has a pretty good uninstall section. http://majorgeeks.com/download4191.html

If you run into any problems, post more details and I think we can get you up and running on Avast. Nice anti-virus choice. I use it on several of my computers.

gday barrotra may i suggest firstly if you don't already have download and install ccleaner from here " http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Toolbar_d4191.html " you will need to run this when you have completed the uninstall process.may i also suggest reg seeker form here " http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegSeeker_d2579.html ".i use both of the programs to clean up any leftovers from uninstalling programs form my computer, but make sure you save the backups and keep them for a while in case you have any problems after you use them.
now ensure that the bull-guard program is disabled then open ccleaner choose the tools tab on the left side of the panel, you will then be in the uninstall menu.scroll through and locate bull-guard from the menu and start the uninstall process.once the process is complete select registry form the menu on the left,in the registry integrity section ensure that all the check boxes are ticked, the press the scan button to scan for issues once complete press the fix button and ensure you save the backups, once completed restart your computer.
after restart check in your programs folder for any folder that may be left behind in relation to bull-guard and delete them, you may also look through documents and settings folder for any folders relating to the same program.
once you are satisfied there are no left over files and folders open cleaner again, now press the analyze button once complete press run cleaner. once finished press on the registry tab and scan for issues once more.
now open and run reg seeker if you don't feel confident with this program don't use it.if you do make sure you keep the back ups. once complete restart your computer once more and you are now ready to install your new antivirus good luck and have a nice day.

    Thank you for your help.

I have to go pick up my 4 year old grandson who is spending the weekend with us for a bit (or a lot) of spoiling from his Nana !!

I will follow your instructions re the uninstall and reg clean over the weekend and report back to you on the results.
