replace operating system

    I think my hard drive is toast. How do you replace the operating software for my new one ? There was no disc with the machine when I bought it new a little over a year ago.

    If your computer was made by Dell, HP, Gateway etc. Then you should be able to contact them and request Restore CD's.

    You say you "THINK" your HD is toast. What is the problem with it. Could be possible that it is "NOT" toast. This is important especially if you have a lot of data on that HD.
    Have you already pulled the possible "Toast" HD out of the computer and replaced it with a new one?

    the pc is a sony vaio when you turn it on it flashes vaio then a dak screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left corner. no they will not send discs. if left on you will get an I/O error message. cant get to any functions.
