Edit: The printer is an HP 1012 not a 2012. Sorry, typo.

My 1012 is 'ghosting'. It has been for over a year (I just stopped using it and use another printer now). But I miss the laser.

I know I replaced the toner cartridge a year ago but that provided little, if any, improvement.

In nosing around, it seems like it may be the fuser. A new fuser isn't cost feasible but I did see where you can replace the fuser film sleeve for under $20 (maybe even less if you shop around). Worth a try for me.

There is an instructional diy on youtube for this specific repair..I just wondered if anyone has tried this and regretted it. There are quite a few parts to remove but it seems do-able if you take you time and don't get ahead of yourself.

Also, the new film requires a specific grease. Just wondered if this grease is something I might have around the house but known by some other name.

    Thanks

OK. The grease is pretty much specific to printers. I found some on-line at a good price..or included with the film.
