    Hi Friends.
My MOBO died a couple days ago and I need to purchase a replacement. Here are the details of the old one...and I would greatly appreciate help in finding one that will be compatible with my case and memory...etc.

I found this one and it looks similar

I also found one on ebay but it says Raid not included ... and also I/O Shield is missing:

I have a full size case:

I also have 4 sticks of DDR400 memory

I hate spending too much on this as I hope to upgrade computers in a few months.
    Thanks

It all looks OK. You should have no problems with the new MB installation in the case listed, and your RAM and CPU should be OK too. Just keep in mind that if you're running Windows XP or Windows 2000, it will not simply be a case of swapping motherboards, powering on, and you're rockin' and rollin'. Windows XP & 2000 absolutely HATE IT when a motherboard is swapped out and 97% of the time, Windows will not boot and will crash. However, you can perform a safe reload of Windows and not lose any data or programs if you follow the steps in this guide. Most repair installs go smooth w/o issues, but every so often the desktop shortcuts and user settings get "lost". This is usually due to corrupt user profiles, but all the data (everything in My Documents for example) is still there, but no previously installed programs will run. This situation is pretty rare though.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I will go ahead and get that one.... the link you sent did not open... but it might be this stupid slow laptop. I will try again at work tomorrow.
    Thanks again

Honestly, if possible, you might want to think about just going for a rebuild in to some modern gear. Prices are really low and you can probably get a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM for under $250 that would blow away your current unit.... however, if you have an AGP video card, you'r outta luck 'cuz no modern motherboard will accomodate an AGP card....
The link should work... try to right-click on it and select "Open in a new Window" and it should work....

    Thanks dlb.
Can you point me in the right direction? Where to look, and what all I need? I sure wish I was smart like you guys LOL... my son gets tired of dealing with me. hehe
I thought about a barebones system but the ones i found were about as much as a whole system. I also looked at the ZT systems and was tempted to just go with one of them. The reviews I read were positive.
    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks again for your help.

I'll do some research and post back tomorrow.... I've had a beer or two and I'm getting lazy and tired :drink :zzz So I'll try to find the best bag-for-the-buck and get back tomorrow, but I think the new Phenom II X2 550 is the way to go. It's a fast (and overclockable) processor with a great price, and DDR2 memory is dirt cheap with 2gb being under $50 usually.....

    AMD PhenomII x2 550 CPU 3.10ghz $115 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103680
    GigaByte Motherboard $75 w/ $10 mail-in rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128379
    2 x 1gb DDR2-800 $26 w/ free shipping http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178154
Total: $216.00 plus shipping on motherboard and CPU, minus $10 rebate
Keep in mind that most (if not all) new motherboards have only one IDE connector, so if you have more than 2 IDE drives (CD/DVD or hard drives) you'll need to replace one with a SATA (serial) drive. SATA DVD burners are generally under $30 at Newegg, and can also be found with free shipping and rebates...
    I hope this helps!

Thank you very much. I will check those out. I guess the only question i have is.. about the AGP and if my case will work with these changes. I am not sure what AGP is so i dont know if i have it or not lol..
    Thanks again!

No worries about the new mobo fitting in the case.... the screw hole pattern has been standardized for years and isn't likely to change any time soon. AGP is an older type of video card. If you plug your monitor in to a connector on the motherboard then you don't have anything to worry about. If you plug your monitor in to an add-on card that went in to the slot closest to the processor on your old mobo, then you have an AGP video card which is not compatible with most (if not all) modern mobos.
