Sorry, I didn't post my last message properly, here it is again, hopefully correctly this time.
Hi there people who are smarter than me (at least when it comes to computers). I have been having trouble with my computer for some months now, from it running slow to programs frequently crashing. The most serious thing that happened was that Excel suddenly disappeared from my computer; one day here, the next, gone. That happened a couple months ago. I have a four year old Dell running XP Pro. My internet is Juno dial up. I noticed about:blank on the Juno search bar, but not on Explorer. I still get Juno’s home page, but about:blank is always there, even after reinstalling Juno. I often have a hard time getting onto the internet and often get booted; Often I have to control-alt-delete to close Juno, and sometimes the modem is reported as being used by another program, though what that could be I don’t know.
I went through the “READ & RUN ME FIRST” posted by chaslang, and have log from Hijack This and Panda Activescan. Also Spybot found two new.net entries that it couldn’t fix. Looks like Panda found the new.net thing and a couple other things too. If you guys can help, I’d really appreciate it.

Spybot’s two items it couldn’t fix:
NewDotNet: User settings (Registry key, fixing failed)
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\new.net
NewDotNet: User settings (Registry key, fixing failed)
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\new.net

Hi, haven’t had time to work on this problem much since my last post, but
When I ran BitDefender the first time, it didn’t find anything, so I didn’t have a log to post, sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that, Also, New Dot Net wasn’t on the uninstall list, , but I found two entries under Program files and an uninstall New dot net entry in Windows, so I deleted them from there.

I got rid of the stuff you listed on the hijack this, safe booted and axed C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\intrigue.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\kwv2.dat

Ran CC Cleaner again (didn’t remove much at all this time, though it didn’t take anything out of Prefetch, so I manually deleted everything in Prefetch myself, about 4.37 MB of stuff.)

Couple of questions; I noticed that when I open up the Windows folder, there are 120 folders, (889 MB) that are almost all labeled “$NtUninstallKB……” I don’t know if this computer used to run Windows NT before the company I bought it from put XP Pro on it, but my wife’s computer with XP Home doesn’t have anything like this in the windows folder. Can I axe all that stuff?
Also, any ideas on why Excel got munched off my machine or what could do that? The HJT log refers to Excel in line 08, and 09 refers to some kind of missing file.
Anyway, thanks for all your help.

I just ran HJT, heres the log. The Excel thing was wierd, but I can't find it anywhere; my other office stuff (Word, Powerpoint, Publisher) is all still ok, though Sometimes Word will crash at odd times.

Seems to be running a bit quicker, though I still have about:blank as the first entry on the pull down menu on Juno's start page. Sometimes I have a nightmare time logging on, sometimes not. I only use IE for surfing, and Juno only to connect. Should I uninstall and reinstall Juno?
