Repurposing a monitor

I have many old monitors sitting around...they are still good so i would like to put them to good use. Is there a cheap way to hook a DVD player or video game console up to one of these and bypassing the need to use a computer? hooking speakers up to it and that kind of thing... Is there such a thing? these are the kind WITHOUT audio video jacks... that aren't THAT old.

first off thank you for replying. Some are the old heavy BIG hernia makers and only have the VGA plug or cord. I have two that are LCD... one only the VGA plug the other can have TWO VGA cords..so I guess to connect to two computers. Neither has speakers . The first is a small ACER the second is a larger DELL

 

What kind of ports does your DVD and video game console offer? Do they offer HDMI?

 

RCA plugs and a cable connection. none of them are newer games or players. The DVD player is a combo with VHS player in it as well. The game consoles are like a PS2 or old nintendo. so they too are RCA plugs or the cable connections.
Is there some kind of adapter that I can get? I have the one that runs through a computer but I am trying to eliminate that. Just too much hassle to have to have a computer for each one I set up.
