Resetting Windows 10 Back To Original But Not Losing The Os

can I just use the reset option to restore a drive back to it's original without losing the OS?

I've been using a borrowed computer and now want to return it. I just want to get my stuff off without losing the system that was on it when it was loaned to me.

Yes, that should be fine. Be aware though that all personal stuff and software the owner may have created will be lost unless they imaged the system and backed up their files before handing it to you.

 

That's totally fine. it was a fresh install of windows when I got it. anything that's on there is my stuff. I just wanted to take it off before I gave it back. I wasn't sure how to get all my stuff off. I'd thought about cloning it or imaging it but not for the software - that's a lost cause. I'll have to reinstall that on my new system because I don't think it will transfer over. UNLESS there is a way?

thanks for you input. I need to get this done and get this loaner back to it's owner. He doesn't know anything about how to set it up, so I was going to offer to step him thru it. He's a smart guy, but computers are NOT his thing..........(he's my big brother). lol. I know he could figure it out but it would be frustrating for him. I'll have to ask him how he wants me to do it.
