Resident Evil Fans Are Odd...

These games here, are practically the same, yet one of the two examples is always panned.

0 and remake.
2 remake and 3 remake.
4 and 5.
2 original and 3 original.
7 and 8.

So, this is actually five pairings. Right?

I really don't understand how, for example, the first remake is considered better than the prequel, when that game and a lot of other subsequent games, have a similar premise. They are pretty much identical. Yet one game in each pairing is universally disliked.

By far the biggest comparison, is when people hate 5, but they prefer 4, when there's more to do with RE as a whole in 5 than 4.

I suppose it is due to the scare factor in RE5 being lower due to the action being in sunnier climes than the previous RE games. Some say this took away the fear factor.
In the end there’ll always be those fans who complain about a specific game.
Same in the Legend of Zelda community. For years they’ve complained about the motion controls in skyward Sword so were delighted to hear the remaster can be played with a controller. They’re still complaining about using the joystick to swing the sword saying it’s too difficult. I’m here still using motion controls & enjoying the game on my Switch.

 

This guy, "Nemesis".

He used to really be the best YouTuber for reminding people that RE sucked without Shinji Mikami. That's a fair point. It does. But he has changed his tune.

Because now? He gets interviews with the cast, doesn't bash Capcom any more, rarely posts worthwhile content, mostly uses Twitch, and repeatedly posts on his community tab, stuff about mental health affecting his desire to upload. The same excuse, which folk begin to realize is an excuse. Because people know it's because he sold out. But this was basically because other users forced him to switch up his content. So he fakes his optimism these days.

 

It does sound like “Nemesis” has sold out especially as he now appears to be posting positive comments & has interviews with the cast. I wonder if Capcom have contacted them to complain.

 

When I was arguing with him in the past and a few trolls, who actually mocked him previously, I made a passing remark about how Capcom didn't know who he was, since he was spouting all this jive to make himself seem popular.

He claimed people (in actuality, his followers) sent Capcom his videos. As if Capcom would care about a guy with about 2000 subscribers. At least at the time. Now he has well over 6000.

Sadly, he now only very occasionally puts up a rant about a game, but it's hardly ever. Although he soon removes it, much like he deleted his old videos from 2017 and 2018. The rest of his channel consists now of just dumb fan theory videos.

He doesn't even do rants anymore. I get the impression a lot of people on YouTube just like to act big. Because he did state for a long time before the Resident Evil 2 remake trailer dropped, that he would not purchase the game because of Capcom not hiring Claire Redfield's original voice actor. Which is kind of stupid, considering many remakes don't bring back the original people from before.

I think people should always stay true to themselves. I may still play the games. But if I know they are being wrecked, I will defend the franchise truthfully. Nobody tells me how to post online. For I am real.

 

Capcom most likely deleted the videos without viewing them.

I basically retired from forums, as I simply lost interest in message boards. With how the web is today, there's really hardly any activity anymore. It wasn't just because of that, though. This troll from Australia was regularly harassing me.

Every single time I made a new YouTube profile, he just started being malicious. I do think I beat that guy intellectually anyway. He was stupid enough to post a picture of himself, and then didn't do a good job of hiding the fact. But yeah. Trolls like him can be rather nippy. They cannot ever take a damn hint.

RE is definitely not what it was. I just came out of retirement for Tokyo Game Show, which has started, but the Capcom stuff won't be until later on. However, Konami aren't likely to talk about the rumoured Silent Hill reboot, or even good sounding games, apart from the children's cartoon type ones. But it's sad to see Silent Hill forgotten.

Currently the ‘excitement’ is about the Resident Evil 3 Nemesis edition which is supposed to add the content removed. Most likely fake.

Well, it has been 6 months since Capcom told fans at E3, that they had DLC in the works. Not that it will make the game any better, because it's probably now my least favourite out of the mainline games.

Also, D.C. Douglas apparently leaked some art of Albert Wesker recently, in the upcoming RE4 remake.

This was their first attempt at (sort of) remaking CV, in 2009.

But they messed up the story, because Claire never met Ada. Also, Chris didn't meet Steve.

 

An example of how potty some fans are imo is one of the RE groups on Facebook. It has recently changed Admin which is fair enough but this new admin has ‘ordered’ the members to regularly post (1-2 posts a week minimum) or be removed (he has in fact removed a number of people already).
I’m thinking that there’s more to this than meets the eye. I could be wrong but if a group becomes popular with a high number of posts I’m sure Facebook offers the owner the chance to show ads on their group in exchange for money. If this is the case then I suspect the hope of financial gain is behind this.

 

Yeah. I'd steer clear of Facebook groups like that, especially since Facebook normally forces people to use their real name. When you fall out with people in these e-groups, expect a lot of backbiting to commence.

I've been a victim of stalking from some James guy in Australia, so I know how annoying it can be putting up with elitists that don't like anybody speaking out against Capcom. I was supposed to get a call back from a lawyer, but I'm in Scotland. It's kind of awkward with their time difference.

I only go on one RE forum now, called Biohaze. But they delete my threads in the general discussions section, which is largely neglected. I really think forums are pointless in 2021, so I think 2021 will be my last year on message boards because of the lack of activity, and because of that arsehole who has been pestering me on Fandom. I've decided to concentrate on buying DVDs and Blu-rays, but they are rather expensive. Don't like receiving cracked cases either. Imagine paying over $30 for one film, just to receive damaged goods.

In fact, I tried to be an extra in films, and ran into the same sort of issues. People saying things so I am omitted. Yet after flipping my lid, I went to court and got non harassment orders. Didn't even go out of my way to bother them. They were doing it to me. But if you have a record for similar shit, they just end up screwing up your life more and more. And it's so bad now, social services won't even give me any support. Recently, they sent a letter, detailing why.

Sorry to hear you’ve been the victim of a stalker. Usually on forums you can block a user but often that is not enough.

I wouldn’t pay a large amount for one DVD even if it was a rarity. I would check YouTube, eBay or Amazon to see if they had the film available. If an item arrived damaged I would contact the seller & ask for a refund or a discount.

The guy is nuts. I have known him since 2004. Had him signing up countless accounts on (mostly dead) forums, constantly spamming threats. Usually just at me, but occasionally at anybody who is a regular member and just notices his abuse.

On Fandom, there's a wiki for horror movies and when you edit a page, it sort of like tags you so any subsequent edits by other users means you get informed in emails. But you need to first make an edit to follow the article. So he obsessively did that for every page I edited, then he closed the accounts and signed up God knows how many more. I don't contribute much any more, but I notice that he comes right back and posts crap about the production status of films I just so happen to appear in, or leaves trolling comments with a VPN. Yet this is clearly spiteful of the guy, as he constantly calls me "talentless" and even mentioned the name of the hospital I was born in, because my birth certificate was posted to IMDb. So if I suck at acting, I suck at life, and whatnot, why am I so interesting then? Just doesn't add up.

But oh well. I guess his life must suck as well...

Fortunately, I won't be bothering with it any longer. The same with forums. I consider myself retired from acting anyway. I kind of feel like I have no future in the business, after getting blackballed. It's not nice, but they're going to keep on doing it regardless. It's not something you can easily remedy, and in my case, I cannot travel. Got bad anxiety. It's hard to take it up as a career too, as you normally don't get paid for low budget movies, and the work is not frequent either. So it's pointless.

 

As for RE...

RE8 didn't win Game of the Year, because I think most gamers knew it was an underwhelming entry. People also spotted a brief image of Ethan on the screen, in third person. However, that turned out to be a mod, so I don't think they were meant to show that off.

As if Capcom would be like Bethesda, and offer people a choice of camera angles.

Outside of these indie games, no survival horror fanatic can expect a company like Capcom or Konami to go back to that style from the 90s. Times have changed. But that's a pity, because most people agree that the viewpoint gave these titles a unique quality, that declined after the switch over to third person.

I agree with the creator of Silent Hill. Especially since it's hard to emulate something done so well back in the day.

It's so easy to come up with new stories, around whoever comes into the town. But rehashing a plot is not necessary.

Capcom's problem is money goes to their heads. They've ran out of ideas, for new games. So they'll remake every main game. A while back, I even remember a bit of hearsay started about a third person remake of RE1, in the same style as 2 and 3. And no. If they did that, they'd ruin every creepy aspect of the original remake, which despite being released in 2002, is still a marvel to look at in 2021. Timeless, really...

4 doesn't really need to remade. If they do that, people are going to immediately notice all the stuff they'll likely cut out.

 

That was the problem with Silent Hill games. The first was unique & the 2nd expanded on the theme but was different enough form the original to be enjoyable. With the 3rd it was just an updated version of the first one.
There’s really only so many stories where a wanderer stumbles into Silent Hill & faces their demons/own guilt.
Downpour tried to be a bit different with the monsters becoming more dangerous when it rained.

RE 4 has been remade in VR I believe, however I haven’t heard of any cut content.

 

I hope we hear something official from Konami someday soon. Plus, there's the DLC for RE8 as well...

The general consensus of these forums seem to be “I like X RE game & hate the others so I also hate anyone who doesn’t like X RE game or prefers Y RE game.”
There’s a YT video purporting to be a RE 9 announcement trailer but I believe it is the YTber’s idea of what the trailer is going to look like. Tbh it looks more like Silent Hill.
