Resolution Problems With Certain Software

So I just recently built a new computer, i9 12th gen, Windows 11 Pro, 64 Gb ram, GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card. The old computer was Windows 10 and I always used a 1280 x 720 resolution setting (using the recommended 1920 x 1080 made everything too small to read). On the new machine, using 1280 x 720 makes everything look blurry no matter what I tried with all the other settings. Only until I put it on 3840 x 2160 (4k) with a 300% scaling in the Windows settings would I get a nice sharp image.

So here’s the issue that I never had on the old PC. Some software programs now have everything super tiny small that you can’t possibly read. For example, the surveillance camera software I use looks like this:



And another program for programming a walkie-talkie:



The font sizes and icons are super stupid smaller than normal.

Changing the new PC to 1280 x 720 in the Windows settings makes everything look blurry (when on the old PC, 1280 x 720 looked crisp) and the scaling option is no longer available. So what would cause this? How do I get all softwares to work right on 3840 x 2160 ? And why would putting the new PC on 1280 x 720 suddenly cause a blurry image quality on the screen?

 

Try Running the ClearType Text Tuner, "Search" for "Adjust ClearType text" in Start/Search.

 

I noticed that, since their inception, LCD monitors were tuned to a certain resolution by the way their pixels worked and needed to stretch the image if it's at a different resolution. Try a resolution that is exactly either 1/2 or 1/3 your monitor's actual resolution. If you can't, you may need an external monitor, maybe a CRT monitor as a last resort. Sorry.
